A clear process, from first contact to outcome.

ADHD assessment should feel structured and predictable – particularly for people who are already managing significant mental load. Here is exactly what happens when you come to HG Mind Works, and roughly when.

Getting started

Day 01

Initial enquiry

Complete a short enquiry form or call the team directly. We respond promptly during working hours. No lengthy intake questionnaires before you have spoken to anyone - just a straightforward first contact.

Day 0–1

Booking conversation

A structured 15-minute call with a member of the team. We walk through the process, answer your questions, confirm pricing and discuss whether our service is the right fit for you. No pressure. No hard sell. Full pathway costs are discussed before you commit to anything.

Day 0–3

Payment and onboarding

Payment is taken by card, bank transfer or payment plan. Consent documentation is completed, your identity is verified and pre-assessment forms are sent. The administrative process is straightforward and handled by the bookings team.

Clinical preparation

Days 3–7

Pre-assessment forms

You will complete structured clinical questionnaires covering your current symptoms, developmental history and daily functioning. These are reviewed by the clinical team before your assessment and inform how your appointment is prepared. If possible, we may also ask someone who knew you as a child to complete a short background form - school reports are helpful but not required.

Days 3–7

Clinical triage

A qualified assistant psychologist reviews your forms and conducts a brief 15-minute triage call. This identifies any complexity or safeguarding considerations in advance, ensures your assessing clinician is properly prepared and gives you a further opportunity to ask questions before your appointment.

Days 7–14

Evidence gathering

In the period before your assessment, the clinical team collates all relevant information - your completed questionnaires, background history, any collateral information provided, and standardised measures including the ASRS, PHQ-9 and GAD-7. This preparation is what allows the assessment appointment itself to be thorough rather than exploratory.

This stage is what separates a proper clinical assessment from a tick-box appointment. Your clinician arrives fully prepared.

Assessment and outcome

Day 14–21

ADHD assessment appointment

A 90-minute video appointment with a qualified nurse, psychologist or psychiatrist who specialises in adult ADHD. The appointment uses the DIVA-5 - the gold-standard structured clinical interview for adult ADHD - and covers current symptoms, their impact on your daily life, and how symptoms presented in childhood. Your appointment is recorded with your consent. Your identity is re-verified at the start of the session.

Days 21–28

Report production and QA review

Your assessing clinician produces a detailed diagnostic report covering your history, the assessment findings and the clinical outcome. Before the report is issued, it undergoes a mandatory review by a second clinician. This two-stage process is not standard practice across the private sector - for us it is a non-negotiable quality standard. Reports are issued within 10 working days of your assessment appointment.

Days 28–30

Feedback appointment

A dedicated 30-minute video appointment with your assessing clinician to walk through the outcome. Your diagnosis - or the clinical rationale for a non-diagnosis - is explained clearly. If ADHD is identified, treatment options are discussed. If it is not, the findings are explained in full and appropriate signposting is provided. You will not leave the process without clarity.

From day 30

Treatment discussion and next steps

Where ADHD is diagnosed and treatment is clinically appropriate, we discuss the options available to you - including our prescribing and titration pathway. There is no obligation to proceed, and no pressure to make a decision immediately. If you choose to continue into treatment, the next steps are explained clearly and the process moves at a pace that works for you.

Full details of the prescribing and titration pathway are on our Medication and Shared Care pa
