CLINICIAN-LED | SECOND REVIEW INCLUDED | RESULTS IN DAYS

Private ADHD assessment for adults. Done properly, from start to finish.

You may have already spent months researching ADHD, questioning yourself or trying to push through work while feeling constantly overwhelmed underneath it all. You don’t have to keep waiting for answers.

Our assessments are designed to give you a clear answer, a structured process and support with what comes next.

Trusted by NHS and public sector organisations

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

Many adults who contact us have spent years wondering why everyday life seems significantly harder for them than it appears to be for the people around them.

On paper, they may appear capable, reliable and functioning well. Privately, many are exhausted by the amount of mental effort it takes simply to stay on top of daily life.

By the time many people seek assessment, they are usually looking for clarity, understanding and a way to move forward.

Constantly overwhelmed

Mental exhaustion

Emotional overwhelm

Burnout

Forgetfulness

Starting tasks

Time blindness

These experiences do not automatically mean ADHD, but many adults seeking assessment describe similar patterns.

A clear process, from start to finish.

An ADHD assessment should feel structured and straightforward.

Here is exactly what happens when you come to HG Mind Works:

01: 5 Minutes

Initial enquiry

Complete a short form or call the team. We will respond promptly during working hours. No long intake questionnaires before you've spoken to anyone.

02: 10–15 minutes

Pre-assessment screening

Once booked, we will send questionnaires about your symptoms, background and current difficulties. A clinician will review your information beforehand and may arrange a brief call if needed to help prepare for your assessment.

03: 90-120 minutes

ADHD assessment appointment

Meet with an ADHD clinician in a remote video appointment lasting around 90 minutes. We explore your experiences, patterns and history using structured assessment tools (DIVA-5, the gold-standard structured clinical interview for adult ADHD).

04: Within 10 working days

Report and feedback

Your report is completed within 10 working days and reviewed by a second clinician before being issued. Where no diagnosis is made, a follow-up appointment is included to discuss the findings and next steps. Where a diagnosis is made, your clinician will discuss treatment options directly.

05: If appropriate

Treatment and ongoing support

If treatment is appropriate, we can discuss medication, titration and longer-term support options. We explain shared care clearly from the beginning so there are no surprises later. Some GP practices may choose not to accept shared care arrangements.

Not everyone assessed receives an ADHD diagnosis. If ADHD is not identified, your clinician will explain the findings clearly and discuss any next steps or onward support options.

Three things make us different.

Every report is reviewed by a second clinician.

Before any report reaches you, a second qualified clinician independently reviews the findings. It isn’t standard practice across the private sector. For us, it’s non-negotiable. It means diagnostic decisions don’t rest on one person’s judgement on one day.

You always know who you're speaking to.

No rota of unfamiliar clinicians. Your assessing clinician is named at booking, conducts your assessment, writes your report and leads your feedback appointment. If you continue into treatment, your prescriber is named too.

Assessment, treatment and ongoing care under one roof.

Where assessment indicates ADHD and medication is clinically appropriate, our nurse prescribers can initiate treatment. We support shared care with your GP where they’ll accept it, and continue prescribing privately where they won’t. You won’t be left without a plan.

Our first patients are moving through assessment now.

We will be publishing verified reviews as they come in.

In the meantime, here is what we can tell you: we are CQC registered, HTE Framework approved and every report we issue undergoes a mandatory second-clinician review. Our governance standards are not dependent on how long we have been operating.

If you would like to speak to the team before booking, we are happy to answer any questions directly.

Treatment & ongoing support.

An ADHD diagnosis is the beginning, not the end.

Medication is not the right choice for everybody, but for many adults it can make a significant difference to focus, emotional regulation and day-to-day functioning when carefully managed and reviewed.

Prescribing & titration

Where assessment indicates ADHD and medication is clinically appropriate, our nurse prescribers can initiate treatment. Before anything is prescribed, we carry out baseline health checks and an ECG where indicated.

Your medication is started at a low dose and gradually adjusted – a process called titration – based on how you respond, with a review at 15 days, then monthly check-ins and a 6-monthly 30-minute consultant review. Blood pressure and side effects are monitored throughout.

Titration takes time to do properly. We will not rush it.

Shared care & ongoing reviews

Once your medication is stable, we support a shared care referral to your GP where they’re willing to accept it. We write to your GP at the end of your assessment regardless — so your records are complete whether or not shared care proceeds.

Not all GPs accept shared care for privately initiated ADHD medication. If yours declines, we continue prescribing privately. You will not be left without a plan.

An annual review is included as standard, in line with NICE guidance.

Every treatment decision is based on individual clinical need. Medication is not the right option for everyone.

Transparent pricing, no administration fees or hidden charges.

NHS waiting lists for adult ADHD assessment currently stand at 3-5 years in most areas of England. For many adults, a private assessment is the only choice.

Quick answers

How quickly can I be seen?

Most patients are assessed within a few days of booking. The full process from first contact to report is typically three to four weeks. We will always confirm current availability before you commit to anything.

That uncertainty is extremely common and often one of the reasons people seek assessment.

The purpose of the assessment is not to confirm a particular outcome. It is to provide a clear clinical understanding of what may or may not be contributing to the difficulties you have been experiencing.

If ADHD is identified, you have clarity and a pathway forwards. If it is not, you will still receive a detailed explanation of the findings and any appropriate recommendations.

You will receive a detailed written report explaining the assessment findings, diagnostic outcome and clinical recommendations.

A follow-up feedback appointment is included to talk through the outcome clearly, answer questions and discuss any next steps available to you.

If ADHD is diagnosed and treatment is clinically appropriate, we will explain the support pathways available. If ADHD is not identified, we will still provide a clear explanation of the findings and discuss any appropriate signposting.

Some GPs do decline shared care for privately initiated ADHD medication, and we believe it is important to be open about that from the start.

If shared care is declined, we are able to continue prescribing privately and will always explain the options available to you clearly before treatment begins.

Masking is extremely common in adults with ADHD, particularly in people who have spent years trying to appear organised, capable or in control externally.

Our clinicians understand that the internal experience can look very different from outward presentation. Appearing functional does not rule ADHD out, and it will not be held against you during assessment.

You've done the research. This is what the next step looks like.

Talk to the team, ask your questions, or book your assessment. There’s no pressure and no obligation – just a straightforward conversation about whether we’re the right fit for you.
