It's okay to need support.

The job does not always stay at work

If something is unsettling, you do not have to carry it on your own.

This is a confidential Psychological Wellbeing Service for Kent Fire and Rescue Service colleagues who need support beyond the Employee Assistance Programme.

It provides access to specialist clinicians following difficult experiences at work, sustained pressure or when things feel harder to manage.

Start here

Your Employee Assistance Programme is the first step for general support.

If you need further support, this Psychological Wellbeing Service provides access to specialist clinical care. This may include support after difficult experiences at work, when things feel harder to manage, or a structured assessment to decide what support is right.

Referrals are made through your Employee Relations Team, Wellbeing Support Officer or Health and Wellbeing Manager.

A clinician will contact you within 2 working days of referral.

Who it's for

This service is available to all KFRS colleagues across all roles and grades.

It is designed for colleagues who need specialist or structured support.

This may include help following trauma, sustained operational pressure or more complex wellbeing needs.

What we offer

One-to-one therapy

Structured support with a qualified clinician.

Time to work through what is affecting you, with support matched to your needs. This may include trauma-focused therapy, CBT, counselling, or other specialist approaches.

Assessment within 3 working days. First session within 7 days.

Annual wellbeing assessment

A structured wellbeing assessment with a qualified clinician.

Offered to selected frontline roles identified by Kent Fire & Rescue Service. Participation is voluntary.

A focused check-in using clinical measures to understand wellbeing and decide if further support is needed.

Group supervision

Structured clinical supervision delivered in small groups.

Online sessions for specific teams, facilitated by a qualified clinical supervisor.

A space to reflect on incidents, manage cumulative exposure, and develop shared coping strategies. Not a case management meeting.

Major incident support

Rapid psychological support following significant incidents.

Immediate psychological first aid, followed by structured assessment and access to specialist therapy where needed.

Support can be scaled to teams and services affected by major or high-impact events.

How to access support

This service is accessed through a management referral. You cannot refer yourself directly.

To access support, speak to your Employee Relations Team, Wellbeing Support Officer or Health and Wellbeing Manager. With your consent, they will refer you.

A clinician will contact you within 3 working days of referral.

If you are unsure who to contact, speak to your line manager who can guide you to the right person.

What happens next

Once a referral is made, a clinician from HG Mind Works will contact you within 3 working days.

They will complete a short triage to understand your needs and arrange an assessment or appropriate support.

Your privacy

This service is confidential.

What you discuss will not be shared with your manager or your team. Clinical information is not disclosed without your consent, unless there is a concern about immediate risk to your safety or someone else’s.
